The session focused on identifying benefits of cloud computing, distributed systems, and High Performance Computing, to the domain of agricultural, environmental, and sustainability sciences, while at the same time assessing the readiness of agri-environmental data scientists. For example, how do we use it to process all data from farm machinery, field sensors, drones, and satellites into analysis ready data? How do we apply it for data science purposes, and use it to produce meaningful and actionable knowledge for farmers or farm advisors? In preparing the data for cloud computing, what are the standards and semantics we should use, or do they not exist yet?
